Over at “Voices from the Mountain”, Lamamamajama posted a poem by “a sailor from Canada and a musical genius." The poem has stuck in my mind ever since I first read it, especially since it helps put my life and my petty pet peeves into perspective. It reminds me that we are but brief candles, blinking pin-points on the wheel of time.
Surfacing
Only so much room
Each of us after a bit of struggle
For a short time or a long time
or any time at all
pop up, bob about, wave perhaps
then, with barely a whimper
sink again, another million yearsBernie Martin

Awww shucks, I'm blushing having my screen name on shamas' site.
I got the book from Ned and I love the entry. You're right about the cover, it makes me look REALLY patriotic to have it face-up in my house.
I love the turtle, I can tell you put more into your blog than I into mine.
I'm playing with the idea of getting a copy of his music to send to you but I have to get ahold of my contact in Quebec.
